We are California Hardwoods

So this is my first blog post for California Hardwoods and as an employee I should tell you about how great we are and what we can do for you and all the traditional stuff for a company but I'm not going to. I'm sure in your mind right now your wondering what is this girl thinking...

A bit of background on my self and how I got started here. I came in to sell some burls to our sawyer and got roped into doing some inventory on some containers out back., which led to me helping in the office to cover for someone and now here I am 40 plus a week and hopelessly devoted to this historic and one of a kind eclectic wood lovers haven.

The site itself has been here for over a hundred years, previously called Cal Ida and in itself has a rich history, but what really makes it is the people. Heaven help me I love them all. Were a small company now definitely not producing half a million feet of flooring a year anymore and with the world being what it is have our good days and our what are we doing days, but we hang in and get through it. Owner, Dave, started this company in 1990 and quickly rose creating specialty hardwood flooring using urban recycled trees and when a fire happened that cost them almost everything even selling even his own home to pay back everyone and try to start again and start again he did, With him and son Chris they managed to pull themselves back up with some help from friends and community.

Now here we are more than two decades later and still producing unique and hard to find wood. We no longer manufacture flooring but we still sell a large selection of prefinished, unfinished and s.c.p flooring, along with slabs and mantles , lumber, molding, mill work, stains, finishes. We have five acres of wood with a mix of slabs, beams , old and new, two wood rooms, a turners room and a definite love for wood.

Chris ,being the resident artist and sawyer, custom finishes some of the most stunning and one of a kind pieces that put Pinterest to shame. Dave is the spirit behind the whole thing as well as the wood "guru", if you have a wood question or need to find something he can tell you or find it for you. Phil is a wood worker himself and always has a good kid friendly joke and always has a smile. I would like to mention our the most important part of us our customers of course ,we wouldn't be here without them and while sometimes were not on schedule or things don't quite go as planned or often as fast we had thought were well worth the wait and we put all that we got into making sure your happy with the piece you take home, even working way past hours and Sundays.
